Baldur's Gate 3
analyzed 2026-08-08 · sample of 711 English reviews across the whole review history
Players consistently praise the game's story, with many calling it "so captivating and well written" and noting it "keeps you wanting more." Characters draw similar acclaim, particularly the companions, who "have their own lore/story behind and their own major quests." The breadth of player choice is a recurring highlight, with reviewers citing "so many options to resolve quests/story points" and "lots of scope to really role play a character." Replayability, content amount, voice acting, and addictiveness are all mentioned overwhelmingly positively, with one player noting they "did not notice that I already played 6 hours straight." The most consistent criticism centers on bugs and technical issues. While some players report "minimal issues with bugs and crashes," others describe "performance issues in act 2-3," crashes after updates, and lost save files. Stability and performance are the aspects with the most negative sentiment relative to their mention count. Combat draws mixed feelings: many praise the turn-based system as "so well done here," but a notable share criticize balance, with one calling it "literally just gambling." Difficulty also splits opinion, with some finding it "perfect for intermediate players" and others raising concerns. Players frequently bring up romance and the camera in their reviews. The game's length is generally seen as a strength, with one player noting "you get 100+ hours out of the box," though a few find it too long. Multiplayer is praised, with one player looking forward to "a full run with a full party." Developer conduct receives positive mentions, with players noting the team listens "to their player base and release the kind of content the community asks for."

gameplay

-
The gameplay is good, but I am still discovering things.
-
There's so much gameplay and character development that you sense is going to open up fully, but right now it sort of runs out of steam after a while.
-
If you can see above I have about ~140+ hours of gameplay in just the Early Access which comprises about 1/4 of the game I believe.

I have been in to pathfinder video games until I discovered Solasta a few months ago, and this game feels like Solasta but with a 100x more engaging story.
-
It is a insidious game that will suck you in and make you want to help your dream mommy or daddy to possibly kill a god.
-
+ The story is so captivating and well written that you will want to play more and more to uncover it.

The social aspect of the game is also very well-done.

-
I really enjoy the aspects brought back from DOS2, such as using the environment as a tool, and having so many options to resolve quests/story points.
-
Right now there's a decent amount of stuff to do in a single playthrough and lots of scope to really role play a character - the quests that are there are character-driven, interesting and not just 'hit so-and-so until he dies and you get the thing'.
-
+ Immense choice driven game, so many consequences and so many different endings because of that.

There are some weird bugs I've noticed every now again, and I seem to have issues with the game loading every so often.
-
Small bugs in act 3 but I completed in patch 1, and they already fixed a lot of those bugs in patch 2.
-
I will say the bugs and frame drop issues did not bother me as much as some of the reviews seem to make you believe they should while they exist nothing was ruined in my first 80 hrs of play

+ Active developer and listening to us fans, in my 93h of the game I've been through 4x patches (bugfixes/added content/performance revised etc) and they are still adding/fixing things.
-
Bought this game when it first came to early access, Larian is one of the few dev companies I still have 100% faith in to make a good game, they listen to their player base and release the kind of content the community asks for, just look at what is coming in Patch 2 and you'll see.
-
Larian did a great job with this game and are continuing that track by listening to the players.

Bugs are becoming more obvious and quests are breaking to the point where I'm afraid to keep playing because I don't want to get soft locked or feel like I'm missing out on character interactions that should have happened but didn't.

How this report was made
- Population
- all Steam reviews of the game (every language, purchase type, and verdict), walked newest-first per window; only English-language reviews are analyzed
- Sample
- 711 English reviews, time-proportional draw over 71 windows (newest-first within each), taken from an all-language walk and kept English-only — where English is a minority the sample runs smaller than the draw, and every margin of error is computed at 711
- Aspect yield
- 309 of 711 analyzed reviews carry at least one aspect (43.5%); every share on this page divides by all 711
- Interval regime
- calm: standard margins of error for a share of a sample (Wilson interval), no widening needed
- Fetch paths
- 71 time windows fetched directly (windowed)
- Language mix
- 1,000 fetched: english 716 · brazilian 52 · russian 48 · 19 more
- Steam-marked windows
- none flagged by Steam (Valve's off-topic flagging began March 2019)
- Marked share
- 0.0% of sample inside marked windows, under the 2% floor
- Narrative
- passed the grounding gate first try
- Evidence floor
- aspects and emergent themes appear only with 5+ supporting reviews; smaller counts sit at the classifier's false-positive floor
- Instrument readings
- measured once on the study corpus for this model and prompt: frozen calibration, not properties of this run
- · aspect tagging vs. human labels
- 0.766 [0.713–0.811] (F1 against a human-labeled test set; 1.0 is best)
- · quotes filed under the wrong aspect
- 11.6% [6.6–19.6] of quotes, measured by hand on a sample; lower is better
- · independent model vs. production labels
- 0.791 [0.772–0.810] (F1 of the production labeler against an independent judge model)
