Mods are similarly well received, positive in 31 of 38 mentions, with comments like "mods make up for most of that". some really good soup but in all seriousness, you lose all concept of time while playing this game and you’ll also most likely spend a lot of money on the much needed DLC.
-
Instead of adding onto the previous features of The Sims 3, the dev team created a generic base core of features with the intent of selling gameplay DLC.
-
just wish dlc prices were lower lol

there's downsides to it just like every game, but mods make up for most of that.
-

-
Adding custom content and mods also makes game play incredibly fun.

♥♥♥♥ this games creators i wasted money on this piece of ♥♥♥♥ ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ i paid 20 bucks to be a vampire
-
The fact you have to buy expansion packs or DLC's to have more things in the game is not worth.
-
Had bought when it was on sale then the following month it was on sale again for less and now it is free. I should have waited until then as this game does not have much for me to hold my interest past character customization.

However, the base game is playable in itself.
-
From watching the trailers, I suspect I'll have plenty of new and fun activities to do.
-
The variety of things you can do in the game range from, starting a family, just being is cas, making dream homes and making a book basically through the sims.

I am obsessed with the sims 4, not only did I already spend $100 on packs but I feel like the sims 4 is one of those games you can never get sick of.

it doesn't load ever.
-
Although, I do have issues running and starting the game occasionally.
-
It forces you to launch through the EA game app, which fails to operate as it's designed to, and I can count on one hand how many times the app has launched and worked properly without any restarting or troubleshooting.

EA, as per usual, make about 100 micro-transaction "deals".
-
I have spent so much money on this game damn you EA
-
The one downside I can say is that it can get boring without constantly getting new content like packs and kits, which can add up to be quite costly when not on sale (30 USD, usually).

Not super hype about the new marketplace update as i was hoping to own all of my stuff through steam but i digress.
-
but steam family library is unable to do that because of the EA launcher.

learning curve
3 positive · 2 negative · 0 mixed · 2 neutral
-
While more streamlined and easier to play, I still feel like I'm babysitting Sims instead of looking at the Big Picture.
-
It didn't take as long as I expected to get used to the controls and the plethora of options, and by my second day I was already building houses and other structures.
-
So I feel like sims 4 was really a new direction for the series with still much creative control yet simple and easy for all people to enjoy.

How this report was made
- Population
- all Steam reviews of the game (every language, purchase type, and verdict), walked newest-first per window; only English-language reviews are analyzed
- Sample
- 606 English reviews, time-proportional draw over 76 windows (newest-first within each), taken from an all-language walk and kept English-only — where English is a minority the sample runs smaller than the draw, and every margin of error is computed at 606
- Aspect yield
- 229 of 606 analyzed reviews carry at least one aspect (37.8%); every share on this page divides by all 606
- Interval regime
- calm: standard margins of error for a share of a sample (Wilson interval), no widening needed
- Fetch paths
- 76 time windows fetched directly (windowed)
- Language mix
- 1,000 fetched: english 611 · brazilian 115 · spanish 71 · 23 more
- Steam-marked windows
- none flagged by Steam (Valve's off-topic flagging began March 2019)
- Marked share
- 0.0% of sample inside marked windows, under the 2% floor
- Narrative
- passed the grounding gate first try
- Evidence floor
- aspects and emergent themes appear only with 5+ supporting reviews; smaller counts sit at the classifier's false-positive floor
- Instrument readings
- measured once on the study corpus for this model and prompt: frozen calibration, not properties of this run
- · aspect tagging vs. human labels
- 0.801 [0.752–0.844] (F1 against a human-labeled test set; 1.0 is best)
- · quotes filed under the wrong aspect
- 11.6% [6.6–19.6] of quotes, measured by hand on a sample; lower is better — measured on the prior model (2026-08-05); re-measurement pending
- · independent model vs. production labels
- 0.791 [0.772–0.810] (F1 of the production labeler against an independent judge model) — measured on the prior model (2026-07-25); re-measurement pending
