Command & Conquer™ Red Alert™ 3
analyzed 2026-08-13 · sample of 396 English reviews across the whole review history
Players most often talk about the gameplay, and they tend to like it: 63 of the 86 reviews mentioning it are positive, with one calling it "One of the best strategy games I've ever played". Multiplayer is the next most-discussed aspect, drawing praise for playing with friends, though 14 of 41 multiplayer mentions are negative. The story and characters are also well received, with 22 of 28 story mentions positive and 14 of 15 character mentions positive; the live-action cast and voice acting come up as a recurring highlight. The clearest recurring criticism is stability, mentioned in 16 reviews and negative in all 16, with players describing crashes and the game becoming unplayable after updates. Platform access is similarly all-negative, tied to forced launchers and dead servers. Balance draws more negative than positive mentions, and AI behavior is criticized more often than not. Opinion splits on difficulty and game length, with positive and negative mentions nearly even for both. Players also bring up the distinct factions, the music, and the atmosphere as strengths, while mission design and controls draw mixed or negative comments. Some ask for more content or mod support, and a few point to the price as good value.

It is good despite the age. It is one of the last good C&C RTS type of games EA will ever make.

The only reason you will buy this is to play with friends and story mission.
-
Interesting plot twist, also has good graphics taking into account how old it is by now, overall a good and enjoyable game, even more funny to play if you got friends who play it.

THESE ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ things shoot 2, YES 2 rockets at your buildings and their done.
-
The multiplayer at this point is slim to dead sadly and they haven't patch any balances, the Allies are so over powered it is insane how good they have it with the freeze and commander choices that just makes it a breeze for them.
-
My main 2 complaints are the lack of online servers and the fact you can drain the land completely of reasources in longer matches and have to resort to fighting with what units you have left already built.

On the other hand, RA3 is more relaxing while playing for the environment is way cozier than CNC3 and the background music is relaxing as well.
-
It's worth your time just for the music reveal.
-
Great Soundtrack (Hellmarch is amazing), Good UI, Challenging AI, lots of maps, and a lot of Youtube content if your looking to see the game played before you make a purchase.

NOPE, the computer is way too ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ OP.

However game overall felt Easy even at highest difficulty.
-
The difficulty of the game is quite frustrating considering that the game itself is poorly scripted, as there are multiple bugs.

Seeing this multi-pack with the rest of the games in the collection was a no brainer and worth every penny!

The three armies are all very different and unique, each with there own gimmicks and units that are both visually appealing and easy to tell apart on the battlefield.
-
The factions are fun and they are all different.
-
Even though the multiplayer was officially shut down earlier this year, its still a fantastic LAN party game to play with mates, probably one of the best RTS's ever made, lots of variation in the units/races with lots of fun to be had in multiplayer skirmishes.

The enemy AI can be a bit of a jerk at times but if you've ever played a C&C game before you would already know that.

It doesn't help that your AI teammate is dumb as a box of rocks.

+ Stayed true to the tone and feel of the Red Alert universe
-
You’re here for the vibes. For the glorious nonsense. For the nostalgic joy of watching B-list actors pretend they’re at DEFCON 1 while standing in front of a green screen with the stability of a wet napkin.
-
Of course when it comes to story and lore Tib series takes the medal but when it comes to beauty and fun I must say for me Red alert has it in the bag.

A very fun rts with epic cool transforming like units to along with funny live actors and scenes to W tim curry
-
The tactics in RA3 is more than CNC3 in my opinion, for each unit can have a special ability.
-
The game is well designed, with Land Air and Sea Combat, Good diversity between factions, unit promotions, unit microskills (activatable abilities), Support Abilities (Faction based abilities available to you).

quest design
3 positive · 4 negative · 0 mixed · 0 neutral
-
The missions are boring and uninteresting.
-
The mission design during the campaign ranges from basic to bad. The focus on coop was an interesting choice, but the execution ultimately a nuisance.
-
Other RTS games like the battle for midle earth 2 or Dawn of war have a better story and better missions, those missions are always different.

learning curve

The graphics are pretty good for a 6 year old game and the environments all look colourful and lively, it's not overly complicated to learn but there are many different ways to win a battle.
-
Great RTS which is pretty easy to learn, but you can even micromanage every unit.
-
liked the toturials of the game, would recommend.

- Troop movements aren't always as reliable as you'd like
-
It's a bit clunky and oddly designed at times, but it's still very fun.
-
Softcore porn aside, the game feels very slow, and due to the reimplementation of a map grid system unit movement looks and feels a bit clunky.

They're just releasing broken games ever since.
-
Not the worst rts but shadow of what the franchise was and a clear sign of the EA rot setting in.
-
Money that's going to EA corporate who's too greedy to even fix a game so it can actually run.

How this report was made
- Population
- all Steam reviews of the game (every language, purchase type, and verdict), walked newest-first per window; only English-language reviews are analyzed
- Sample
- 396 English reviews, time-proportional draw over 166 windows (newest-first within each), taken from an all-language walk and kept English-only — where English is a minority the sample runs smaller than the draw, and every margin of error is computed at 396
- Aspect yield
- 174 of 396 analyzed reviews carry at least one aspect (43.9%); every share on this page divides by all 396
- Interval regime
- calm: standard margins of error for a share of a sample (Wilson interval), no widening needed
- Fetch paths
- 166 time windows fetched directly (windowed)
- Language mix
- 1,000 fetched: english 397 · schinese 247 · russian 131 · 24 more
- Steam-marked windows
- none flagged by Steam (Valve's off-topic flagging began March 2019)
- Marked share
- 0.0% of sample inside marked windows, under the 2% floor
- Narrative
- passed the grounding gate first try
- Evidence floor
- aspects and emergent themes appear only with 5+ supporting reviews; smaller counts sit at the classifier's false-positive floor
- Instrument readings
- measured once on the study corpus for this model and prompt: frozen calibration, not properties of this run
- · aspect tagging vs. human labels
- 0.766 [0.713–0.811] (F1 against a human-labeled test set; 1.0 is best)
- · quotes filed under the wrong aspect
- 11.6% [6.6–19.6] of quotes, measured by hand on a sample; lower is better
- · independent model vs. production labels
- 0.791 [0.772–0.810] (F1 of the production labeler against an independent judge model)
- Versions
