I’m here for the story, the gear, the immersion, the fighting, the fornicating, the sneaking, the decisions and so much more when it comes to RPG’s.

Polished in every way from the first game; More action, more interesting quests, better combat, beautiful scenery.
-
Combat is difficult and takes time to learn, your success is very much based on player skill, rather than character progression.

I'm still quite early on in the main story but I am loving it, so many funny and memorable moments and for once a dev company that has actual put some effort into making there game and you can tell a lot of love went into this, great world building, great characters, fun mini games.

KCD2 and its predecessor are the only games to give you an authentic medieval experience, where you get to live and breath in 1405.

bugs
4 positive · 27 negative · 2 mixed · 1 neutral
-
Graphics and performance are pretty good despite some bugs, thats about the best thing I can say about it.
-
Sure enough, there are some rare little logic errors and minor bugs that occur here and there but they are rarely troublesome, and since saves are being made automatically by questing I cannot agree with other reviews stating that the save system was an issue.
-
The game is often buggy where it counts; while there aren't an immense number of bugs, the few I've encountered have been game-breaking when they show up, like being unable to do anything except for open the menu and being unable to save inside of the menu, so losing over an hour of progress.

It starts slow, but as all great RPGs do, you start to see your character build up to rise to the occasion after putting in some side quest work.
-
Seeing my characters armor and weapons develop as well as skills throughout the game is cool to see and the immersion from the world keeps me coming back.

While the story and where it goes is relatively linear, the way you progress through the story is completely up to you.

I loved the first game, game doesn't hold your hand big step up from the first tho, get that master strike first.

Yes, combat is challenging and has a steep learning curve, but I've decided to go for a silver tongue or a dagger in the back to resolve most battles anyway.

controls

Every interaction is clunky, slow, and more reminiscent of navigating a point and click adventure than a real game.
-
Also, you can't jump or even climb over most obstacles.

-Swordmaster Henry has trouble finding and pulling out his sword when combat initiates as the action is unresponsive at times leading you to get hit many times while your screen fumbles about.

pacing
1 positive · 10 negative · 0 mixed · 0 neutral
-
So far, all the missions have been dumb fetch quests, the worst of which being the quest named 'Miri Fajta', specifically because every time you complete one step in the quest, you then have to spend half an in game day going to the place you were just at.
-
but long-term tedium is not a good different route.
-
It's boring and slow, the voice actors sound b rated.

developer conduct
5 positive · 5 negative · 0 mixed · 0 neutral

The devs poured their souls into this one and you can tell.
-
Warhorse Studios definitely has my support so far for being a great developer in these times where we need more story-driven single player games that captivate the immersion and imagination to get lost in away from the real world and it's many issues.

Your money is going to a studio that loves what they do and has a true passion for it.

Gold is way too easy to come by
-
Nevertheless, the combat was so infuriating and late game meta simply involved powering through enemies as opposed to doing much of anything skillful.

It's still not flawless, there's some bugs, a couple of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ missions, the economy pretty much breaks in the second half of the game, but it's been years since I've been this invested into any video game period.

level design
3 positive · 4 negative · 0 mixed · 0 neutral
-
The combat has gotten worse, now every enemy always blocks every attack, Finding a bed to sleep at is unnecessarily harder, dialogue checks are near impossible to succeed in, and every stupid idiot in town will start a fistfight.
-
It's tedious as hell, fun in some spots, and then you get the most poorly designed encounters to ever exist.
-
the Storm mission is designed by a person that only wants to frustrate.

mods
5 positive · 1 negative · 0 mixed · 0 neutral
-
For what its worth, those with the know how can fix many of these issues using mod-packs, and these will only get better as the game stays out.

Still has the same horrible saving, lock picking, pick pocketing mechanics which break the flow of gameplay with stupid minigames, but thankfully they can be modded out.

So much replay-ability with/without mods.

-
Skill checks are so uninforming.
-
The UI is dated, and the mechanics can get tedious at times with stamina management.
-
On top of that, the game is so well built, that in quests where you need to find items in rooms, it becomes a 10 minute affair to figure out what items are interactable and which aren't.

How this report was made
- Population
- all Steam reviews of the game (every language, purchase type, and verdict), walked newest-first per window; only English-language reviews are analyzed
- Sample
- 568 English reviews, time-proportional draw over 82 windows (newest-first within each), taken from an all-language walk and kept English-only — where English is a minority the sample runs smaller than the draw, and every margin of error is computed at 568
- Aspect yield
- 276 of 568 analyzed reviews carry at least one aspect (48.6%); every share on this page divides by all 568
- Interval regime
- calm: standard margins of error for a share of a sample (Wilson interval), no widening needed
- Fetch paths
- 82 time windows fetched directly (windowed)
- Language mix
- 1,000 fetched: english 570 · german 71 · schinese 60 · 20 more
- Steam-marked windows
- none flagged by Steam (Valve's off-topic flagging began March 2019)
- Marked share
- 0.0% of sample inside marked windows, under the 2% floor
- Narrative
- passed the grounding gate first try
- Evidence floor
- aspects and emergent themes appear only with 5+ supporting reviews; smaller counts sit at the classifier's false-positive floor
