Resident Evil Requiem
analyzed 2026-09-24 · sample of 524 English reviews across the whole review history
Across 524 sampled reviews, atmosphere draws the most consistent praise, with 63 of 66 mentions positive, and players describe being "got scared plenty of times". Combat, characters, and gameplay also skew positive, and voice acting stands out with 16 of 17 mentions favorable. Praise clusters around the horror-and-action blend, the Grace and Leon swap, and the visuals, which players call "very close to photorealism". Opinion splits more sharply elsewhere. Pacing draws 14 positive and 11 negative mentions, and level design divides evenly at 10 and 10. Game length is the clearest complaint: 12 of 21 mentions are negative, with players calling the campaign "kinda short". Balance, controls, and content amount also lean negative in their smaller samples. Recurring uncalibrated themes include requests for DLC, references to earlier series lore, and notes on enemy behavior. The measured picture is a game whose presentation and cast land well while length, pacing, and controls remain the points players contest.

I like the horror and survival aspect, some monsters are very creepy but also somehow cute.

got scared plenty of times.

Eventhough I played in casual difficulty, The horror aspect in this game still manage to bring out the fear in me especially playing as Grace.

Using the Requiem gun is so fun and one-shotting monsters with it is so satisfying.
-
Combat style especially Leon make me feel like high on drugs with his parry that can block almost every enemy attack LMAO.
-
Leon's action-shooter gameplay up until the mid-game is engaging as well.

I love the swaps between Grace and Leon, and how whenever I switch to a different character, it feels like a totally different game.

fantastic love how and grace play and the story was great but the end could have had more but i bet we will get something in the dlc

gameplay
42 positive · 3 negative · 4 mixed · 0 neutral
-
Solid blend of horror and action gameplay.
-
Graces's survival horror portions up until the mid-game are fantastic.
-
It takes what was great about previous entries (the survival horror of RE2r and RE7, action survival horror of RE4r and RE8) and combines it all here. Game looks amazing (thanks to the RE Engine) and did not see any graphical errors or massive dips in FPS.

Outstanding visuals and incredible attention to detail.
-
The graphics are very close to photorealism and it still runs great.
-
Just to start, the game looks incredible. It's probably my pick for the best looking game available right now; and with great performance too, wow.

This game was worth it and would recommend to others.

-
pacing
14 positive · 11 negative · 2 mixed · 0 neutral
-
The environments feel so thoughtfully designed, the lighting and atmosphere are crafted in a way that really pulls you into the world, and the pacing of the story feels intentional instead of rushed.
-
Combat feels responsive, weapons have real impact, and the pacing between action and suspense is handled extremely well.
-
Normally that kind of shift would feel jarring, but the game gives each character enough time to shine without overstaying its welcome or feeling too short.

game length

In the end, it is worth it but the campaign does feel kinda short with how much I paid so 9/10
-
A short game for the price, but in this case it's purely quality over quantity.
-
A little short but pretty good game especially the first playthrough, good horror + action combined

Дизайн рівнів став надзвичайно простим, і взагалі НІ ОДНОЇ загадки в лабораторії.
-
Anyways, great game and I had lots of fun, some sections like when you have to turn on the generators while lisa trevor is after you kinda frustrated me because ur forced to take a hit from her and i dont care much for her.
-
Instead, it felt very linear and kind of generic if I'm being honest.

replayability
11 positive · 6 negative · 2 mixed · 0 neutral
-
The beginning and middle portions were excellent and it is the first Resident Evil where I actually want to play the game again.
-
Will do another run through soon.
-
To that end, I'd say that this is a really solid game, and although not without its flaws, I know I'm going to get a lot of mileage out of replaying this one a lot.

voice acting

The audio is amazing, voice acting is great, stealth sequences reward deductive abilities, Leon is daddy.
-
I was very surprised by Grace's voice acting, like it sounded so genuine and real, like the VA was actually there experiencing the horror.
-
The story here is one of my favorites in the series, which is amplified by two of the best performances in any RE game.

I don't usually get scared playing horror games but I almost soiled my pants playing this one.
-
I haven't been this scared by a horror game in a long time.

Walking back into that place didn’t just feel cool it genuinely brought back a lot of emotions and memories.

if theres ever a quadruple A game this is the one, best visuals and audio of any game ive played so far, really well crafted horror and world design

balance

which kinda leads to one thing that annoys me a tad while play when i think about it is resident evil remake felt espeally hard on anything above normal.
-
Something that bothered me was the amount of health items provided to you. It's too much in Grace's case.
-
The only gun you can find is her pistol at the lounge-bar, zombies take almost two FULL MAGS to die, and they bassically oneshots Grace if they catch her.
-
-
content amount
3 positive · 6 negative · 0 mixed · 0 neutral

number of dungeon and battle is low
-
I wish we got more of certain parts, but overall I think many people can walk away thinking this is either the best Resident Evil, or ~a top three.
-
Now we just need a mercenaries mode!
-
-
controls
1 positive · 6 negative · 1 mixed · 0 neutral
-
As much as i like Leon, his parts just don't feel that good to play, they're way too slow, clunky and the third person combat that was refined and perfected in RE4R has been drastically downgraded here
-
I can’t recommend Leon’s playthrough though, the keyboard and mouse controls are awful at best.
-
Leon move control is too heavy and big latency
-
-
animation
5 positive · 2 negative · 0 mixed · 0 neutral
-
Huge Improvements on Horror And fear reaction and movements ,The way Grace run and slips Which looks like a realistic Human reaction for witnessing a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ attic monster From all the other sequels And Godly Level design Worth every second of my time
-
You can literally see the fear in Grace's hands when you're aiming the weapon and interacting the world.
-
The sound design is top notch, and the animations are incredible.

Особливо цікаво було досліджувати медцентр, ну прям RE2, кайф.

The RPD station was great, and I loved exploring that area again.

There were so many small touches placed throughout the area that made exploring it feel really special.

like i had a pretty easy time starting proffesional on og and im a very casual fan but this game re 4 remake feel like there afraid to give leon more then like 50 handgun rounds at a time and he feels like sucha light weight at times and with the new games much more aggressive grabby enemies.
-
They feel hollow, janky and their movement twitchy but not because they're infected but it feels cheap.
-
then they let you play and apparently zombies cannot walk straight but they can catch a swinging chainsaw and juggle it

i had fun playing this game because of how balanced it was between horror and action between characters and how you need to change your playstyle between one character and another
-
This game definitely rewards different playstyles and honestly a lot of developers should take note because it is not very often in today's day and age that a game as magnificent as this comes along on day 1.
-
A great game, Grace and Leon are both fun to play and have a different playstyle that will have you going between survival horror to all out combat.

But more than anything, what really stood out was the amount of care and passion you can feel behind the game.

one annoyance tho is that key items take up the already tiny inventory space of grace which made it annoying to juggle around going back the item box constantly.
-
I also don't care for the storage system they gave Leon.
-
we need an FOV slider tho plzzzz

leon's one-liners genuinely made me laugh
-
In spite of his PTSD, he's still a badass and he delivers some of the best one-liners in the series in Requiem.
-
The cornier comedy and one-liners are surprisingly well implemented, especially during Leon’s sections.

How this report was made
- Population
- all Steam reviews of the game (every language, purchase type, and verdict), walked newest-first per window; only English-language reviews are analyzed
- Sample
- 524 English reviews, time-proportional draw over 30 windows (newest-first within each), taken from an all-language walk and kept English-only — where English is a minority the sample runs smaller than the draw, and every margin of error is computed at 524
- Aspect yield
- 218 of 524 analyzed reviews carry at least one aspect (41.6%); every share on this page divides by all 524
- Interval regime
- calm: standard margins of error for a share of a sample (Wilson interval), no widening needed
- Fetch paths
- 30 time windows fetched directly (windowed)
- Language mix
- 1,000 fetched: english 524 · brazilian 130 · spanish 98 · 22 more
- Steam-marked windows
- none flagged by Steam (Valve's off-topic flagging began March 2019)
- Marked share
- 0.0% of sample inside marked windows, under the 2% floor
- Narrative
- passed the grounding gate first try
- Evidence floor
- aspects and emergent themes appear only with 5+ supporting reviews; smaller counts sit at the classifier's false-positive floor
- Instrument readings
- measured once on the study corpus for this model and prompt: frozen calibration, not properties of this run
- · aspect tagging vs. human labels
- 0.801 [0.752–0.844] (F1 against a human-labeled test set; 1.0 is best)
- · quotes filed under the wrong aspect
- 11.6% [6.6–19.6] of quotes, measured by hand on a sample; lower is better — measured on the prior model (2026-08-05); re-measurement pending
- · independent model vs. production labels
- 0.791 [0.772–0.810] (F1 of the production labeler against an independent judge model) — measured on the prior model (2026-07-25); re-measurement pending
