Dying Light 2 Stay Human: Reloaded Edition
analyzed 2026-10-20 · sample of 429 English reviews across the whole review history
Across 429 sampled reviews, the most-mentioned aspect is the story, at 24.7%, and it draws more criticism than praise. Players describe the writing as weak, with one calling much of the dialogue "cringe or just uninspiring", and characters come up as a frequent complaint. Combat is the second most-discussed aspect at 18.2% and leans positive, with players calling it "still pretty fun". Gameplay at 12.6% is likewise mostly praised as "tight and responsive", and the world and graphics draw favorable notice, including "the city is absolutely breathtaking". Bugs are the clearest sore point: 15.2% of reviews mention them, and the balance is heavily negative, with reports of a "hard lock game breaking bug". Performance and stability complaints appear alongside, and balance and quest design also skew negative. Controls split nearly evenly at 9.1%, with parkour raised both as a highlight and as "finicky and unimpressive". Price value leans negative, and developer conduct draws criticism. Opinion divides on multiplayer, updates, and player choice, where praise and complaint sit close together. Exploration and replayability are consistently positive where they appear.

Below average zombie game, bad Dying Light sequel.

Speaking of the story and setting, they are absolute garbage.

Absolutely a faithful sequel, improves upon most aspects of the first game excluding the story.

gameplay

Gameplay wise this game feels really fun, makes you explore the world and its secrets resulting in player getting carried away by side quets, that sometimes feel more well written than the actuall story.
-
The gameplay itself is so tight and responsive that I skip the story beats and have a blast.
-
Thoroughly enjoyed the combat, story & gameplay for the fifty hours I've played so far.

I still recommend the first one over this one and hope no one is spending more then $30 on this one at this point.
-
Try again in 5 years when they add enough to make it anywhere near worth the first game in price or quality.
-
It's definitely not worth the initial price, I'd advise to wait for it to be on discount and maybe the bugs will be fixed then too.

Best story progress and fast post-release bug fix support
-
Honestly, it improves the previous game mechanics in so many ways and while the content might not be up to the level of the first game it is important to remember that DL was supported for so many years for mostly free and DL2 will be the same.
-
Yes there are bugs but at least Techland is pushing regular updates to address them.

If you can get over the terrible story and unlikable characters its hiding a fun zombie killer game.

Much of the dialogue is cringe or just uninspiring and fails to make me care about almost all of the characters.

This game is wonderful, well, atleast good, it's something I could recommend just a few weeks prior, but they're going in an AWFUL direction, it's a fun game but Tecent WILL ruin it, everything will go down the drain starting now.

They really need to fix the nighthunters and the ragdoll physics, other than that I would definitely recommend it but not at this stage.
-
NPC's are clearly meant to be parkour with you from dialog but you never see it other than once and it look bad. Probable why it was cut in the latter section
-
NPC interactions are straight out of Fallout 3. Maybe I'm just spoiled from games like The Last of Us and God of War that my standards for story have increased, but Dying Light 2 tries hard to be profound and emotional while failing horribly.

learning curve
2 positive · 4 negative · 1 mixed · 2 neutral
-
The game trains you to be terrified almost immediately and I almost feel like the best ways to avoid enemies is not very obvious.
-
Fighting humans with a bit of trial and error is much better but was slightly harder to learn since I played the first game on console but its incredible now.
-
Edit 2: Going back after playing the first DL, I'm realizing just how much more hand holding DL2 does, it's annoying, especially since I have 219 hours and over 100 hours on the first DL, where is the option to turn off tutorials?

It's like the VA was opening next page and that chit never got edited and cut out.

Especially with the horrible voice acting. 40 year olds shouldn't be voicing 8 year olds.

No offence to Jonah Scott or Demetri Goritsas, I'm sure they're great people, but gosh dang, they did NOT to Aiden or Waltz justice.

Yes, the physics in certain aspects of gameplay could be considered a downgrade but the parkour is better than DL1, the story is really good and the weapons and combat is still amazing.

The game feels so buggy and the city just feel likes it is on beta, the swimming is just horrible for 2022.

How this report was made
- Population
- all Steam reviews of the game (every language, purchase type, and verdict), walked newest-first per window; only English-language reviews are analyzed
- Sample
- 429 English reviews, time-proportional draw over 57 windows (newest-first within each), taken from an all-language walk and kept English-only — where English is a minority the sample runs smaller than the draw, and every margin of error is computed at 429
- Aspect yield
- 278 of 429 analyzed reviews carry at least one aspect (64.8%); every share on this page divides by all 429
- Interval regime
- calm: standard margins of error for a share of a sample (Wilson interval), no widening needed
- Fetch paths
- 57 time windows fetched directly (windowed)
- Language mix

- Steam-marked windows
- none flagged by Steam (Valve's off-topic flagging began March 2019)
- Marked share
- 0.0% of sample inside marked windows, under the 2% floor
- Narrative
- passed the grounding gate first try
- Evidence floor
- aspects and emergent themes appear only with 5+ supporting reviews; smaller counts sit at the classifier's false-positive floor
- Instrument readings
- measured once on the study corpus for this model and prompt: frozen calibration, not properties of this run
- · aspect tagging vs. human labels
- 0.801 [0.752–0.844] (F1 against a human-labeled test set; 1.0 is best)
