analyzed 2026-08-08 · sample of 595 English reviews across the whole review history
Players most often talk about the story, and they tend to praise it: 66 of the 77 reviews mentioning it are positive, with one calling it a "weird and unpredictable visual novel" and another describing it as a "Disturbingly amazing story, plot twists had me at the edge of my seat". Emotional impact is the next most common theme, and it is also mostly positive, with one player saying the game "MADE ME CRY WITH THE BEAUTIFUL ENDING". Gameplay, characters, and atmosphere are each mentioned in a smaller share of reviews, and all skew positive; players describe the game as "a noteworthy deconstruction of the visual-novel/dating-sim genres" and praise "Yuri, the enigmatic, shy, and deeply complex character". Criticism is scattered rather than concentrated. Pacing draws the most negative relative sentiment, with players writing that "The whole building up is long and boring" and that it "takes waaaaay too long to get to the horror portions". A few players also wish for more content or more player choice, saying the game "could have been more interactive by giving people more choices" and that it is "pretty rigid story wise". On the other hand, price value is universally praised, with one player noting "I still cannot believe that this game is free", and art style and music are also received warmly. Replayability is mentioned positively, including one player "replaying this game for the 8th time and it's still just as good".

Help me I've spent 19 hours on a dating game.

At around 3-5 hours playtime depending on reading speed this game is well worth your time, and as is signature of any
decent horror experience has more depth
than what I expected having had this game's reputation proceed it.
-
This is one of these VNs you wish were longer even though you know it ended exactly when it was intended, and where it had to end.

art style

-
For a free game, the artwork and the amount of effort put into the it is truly astounding.
-
- Really charming art style and music, including in the more "daring" sections when it takes a more twisted turn, visually the game is executed very well.
-
The soundtrack, characters, narrative techniques, artwork, and easter eggs were also all incredibly well done especially for a free game.

Currently, I'm replaying this game for the 8th time and it's still just as good.
-
No but seriously, this appears to be a game with multiple possible endings, I'm without a doubt gonna be replaying the game to see what the potential is.
-
I have never replayed a game immediately before, going all the way back to the days of the NES, but this one is needed.

(It also has an amazing dialogue and a amazing sound track) I would highly recommend this game to people who want to check out visual novels for the first time and to people who averagely play visual novels.

I just don't think game was necessary to make, nothing happens.

It was so Good I really wish there was more story to explore.

It also sucks that DDLC+ is just a prequel.

player choice
3 positive · 4 negative · 0 mixed · 0 neutral
-
Genuinely nothing, no jumpscares, no choices to make, its just a video you have to click your mouse to watch.
-
But the game could have been more interactive by giving people more choices and different pleasant endings for each character if we wrote a poem to them (MISSED YURI AND SAYORI BTW).
-
The worst part of this game is that it's pretty rigid story wise, it doesn't really branch like other VN's

How this report was made
- Population
- all Steam reviews of the game (every language, purchase type, and verdict), walked newest-first per window; only English-language reviews are analyzed
- Sample
- 595 English reviews, time-proportional draw over 107 windows (newest-first within each), taken from an all-language walk and kept English-only — where English is a minority the sample runs smaller than the draw, and every margin of error is computed at 595
- Aspect yield
- 211 of 595 analyzed reviews carry at least one aspect (35.5%); every share on this page divides by all 595
- Interval regime
- calm: standard margins of error for a share of a sample (Wilson interval), no widening needed
- Fetch paths
- 107 time windows fetched directly (windowed)
- Language mix
- 1,000 fetched: english 595 · russian 92 · spanish 72 · 22 more
- Steam-marked windows
- none flagged by Steam (Valve's off-topic flagging began March 2019)
- Marked share
- 0.0% of sample inside marked windows, under the 2% floor
- Narrative
- passed the grounding gate first try
- Evidence floor
- aspects and emergent themes appear only with 5+ supporting reviews; smaller counts sit at the classifier's false-positive floor
- Instrument readings
- measured once on the study corpus for this model and prompt: frozen calibration, not properties of this run
- · aspect tagging vs. human labels
- 0.766 [0.713–0.811] (F1 against a human-labeled test set; 1.0 is best)
- · quotes filed under the wrong aspect
- 11.6% [6.6–19.6] of quotes, measured by hand on a sample; lower is better
- · independent model vs. production labels
- 0.791 [0.772–0.810] (F1 of the production labeler against an independent judge model)
